Tuareg Jewellery: The Tuareg are a traditionally nomadic tribal
group with many sub-divisions ranging over many countries including, Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, and Niger. Silver is
the favored metal of the Tuareg and they ascribe magical and protective properties to it as it is considered the metal of
the Prophet. Brass, copper, and iron are also popular.
Fulani Jewellery:
The Fulani are one of the largest tribal groups in the Sahara/ Sahel regions of West Africa. Their designs are often
similar to the Tuareg.
Moorish/ Mauritanian Jewellery: Beautifully detailed
geometric designs incised in silver and inlayed ebony are characteristic of Moorish style.
