This is a superb vintage Tuareg shell and leather Khomissar pendant.  It measures just under 2 5/8" (6,7 cm) tall, 3 3/4" (9,55 cm) wide, and just under 3/8" (1 cm) deep.  The Khomissar is a Tuareg interpretation of the Hand of Fatima and it is one of their most distinctive designs.  The pendant was created by sandwiching several layers of leather together and adhering the white shell diamonds to the surface with resin.  It has a vivid turquoise-green leather accent at the top and linear incising on the leather tab at the top.  This piece has small perforations for attachment to a necklace and has imperfections commensurate with tribal wear.
