Description

This is a great, rich PURPLE, BRICK RED & HENNA- Colored Cotton Gauze SCARF from the Western Sahara Desert. The scarf measures almost 7 feet (85"/ 216 cm) long (about 2 inches short of 7') and approximately 2 1/2 feet (30"/ 76 cm) wide. This scarf is made from a panel of the long wraps that many Saharan women wear. It is made from a thin cotton (guaze) and has rich purple, brick red and henna-color dyed designs in a traditional Saharan pattern. There is one small hole on one of the white tie-dyed areas at the very end corner; it should not affect wear at all. The ends are always left unfinished. The scarf has some of the original starch in it which makes it a slightly stiff. When the starch wears off, the scarf becomes very soft. Hand wash with mild soap in cold water, line dry. Please keep in mind that this scarf is entirely hand made and there may be slight imperfections. Some scarves we offer have some "dirt" on them. This is normal as after they are dyed and starched, they are hung in the desert sun to dry and winds sometimes blow dust on them (it sticks!). This scarf is perfect for any season.
